Mark Snijders
Birthdate:March 12, 1972 in Alkmaar
Current club:Retired
Former club(s):Port Vale (Eng), AZ, AFC 34, Alkmaarsche boys
Mark is currently playing for Dutch amateur side AFC '34, a team based in Alkmaar that he played for prior to joining AZ Alkmaar and then Vale. In 1986 Mark played in the AFC 34 youth team alongside Phillip Cocu (now of Barcelona). Last season they were relegated from the Hoofdklasse A division on a penalty shootout after a two legged play-off with FC Hilversum finished 3-3. They now play in the Eerste Klasse A division which despite the translation of "First Class A" is a second tier Dutch amateur division.

A classy ball-playing centre half, signed on a free from Holland, Mark impressed in his first season in the English game with his skilful reading of the game. However, his second season was marred by injury and form problems and he was transfer listed in the summer. He left the club in 2000 after being released. Snijders returned to the amateurs of AFC'34.
