| In 2005 Van der Meyde signed a 4-year contract until 2009 for Everton.
Unfortunately, he managed only 11 appearances in his debut season. Injury, and later suspension, meant he found it difficult to make a mark on the Premier League. The 2006/07 season was, once again, marred by injury, loss of form and media reports concerning his personal life. He made a handful of first-team appearances, starting just seven games. The 2007/08 campaign started in similar fashion and he was subsequently suspended. He never managed to get closer than a place on the bench, largely due to injuries. Everton confirmed on the 5th of June 2009 that the 29-year-old s contract was not being renewed. In March 2010 PSV surprised with the signing of the Dutch international until the rest of the season with an option for another two seasons. Van der Meyde was without club since summer 2009. | |
