| Luc Nijholt went abroad in 1989 to Switzerland. He made fame during his time at Motherwell in Scotland and Swindon Town in England. At Motherwell, he helped the club to win the Scottisch cup in 1991.
At Swindon, he was one of the best defenders in the Premier League but could not prevent the club from relegating to the First Division in his second season. He retired from professional football in 1998. He was managing Dutch club Stormvogels Telstar for a while and was in the season 2008-09 assistant coach at Austria RedBull Salzburg. He continued his coaching career in Qatar and was until September 2012 assistant manager of the Chinese club Shandong Luneng. Luc Nijholt also has a son called Gianluca Nijholt who is also playing professional football abroad. | |
