Jeroen Boere went abroad in the summer of 1993. He made fame in five seasons English football. His most succesful one was in 1997-1998 where the striker scored 14 goals for Southend United.

Boere moved in 1998 to Japan to play for the newly professional club Omiya Ardiya, formerly known as NTT Kanto. His second season in Japan ended disastrous in May 1999. He lost one eye after a knife fight incident in a Japanese bar. That was also the end of his footballcareer.

An accident in Spain in August 2007 brought his life to an abrupt end. He died at the age of 39.
