Bertus de Harder played on 12 March 1953 in Parc des Princes, Paris, a memorable match for victims of the flood disaster in The Netherlands. The Dutch players abroad played a match against the French national team. It became a 2-1 victory with goals from Bertus de Harder and Bram Appel for the Dutch, against a Saunier goal from France. De Harder, honoured citizen of Bordeaux (1950), died in 1982 in Jeumont, France.
