Anthony Lurling moved abroad in summer 2005. He has signed a 3-year contract at FC Köln. However in the middle of the 2005-06 season, he was send on loan to RKC Waalwijk for the rest of the season. It is said that he failed to settle himself abroad. Also in the 2006-07 season Lurling went on a loan period in the Netherlands. He returned to his former club FC Den Bosch.

When he failed to help promotion from Den Bosch, he moved from Köln to his former club NAC Breda in summer 2007. Although his contract in Köln was still until June 2008 he was allowed a free transfer and has signed a 2-year contract until 2009.

His first two seasons at NAC were successful and was followed by a contract extension until 2012 at the Breda club. In January 2012 his contract was again extended for another season because of his good performances. In March 2013 also for the 2013-14 season. However, some disputes during the first half of the season made him unfavorite at the club. He was released from his contract in January 2014, joining his former club Heerenveen for the rest of the 2013-14 season.

In May 2014 he announced another return to a former club. He signed for FC Den Bosch on a 2-year deal on an amateur contract in the Dutch Eerste divisie. In March 2016 Lurling announced his retirement, since he had been injured all season. On 22th April 2016 Lurling did play his last match for FC Den Bosch when he came in as a substitute a few minutes before time against his former club RKC Waalwijk.
