In 2006 Leiwakabessy has signed a 3-year contract until 2009 at Alemannia Aachen. He has left his first club NEC he made his professional debut in 1999.

After two seasons as regular player in the squad, he decided to make a switch to Cyprian champions Anorthosis Famagusta in June 2008. In his first Cypriot season he even played Champions League football with the club and overachieved in the group phase. His contract will expire in summer 2012.

In mid-season 2011-12 he was allowed a free transfer back home when signing a contract at VVV Venlo for the rest of the season. His stay at VVV was extended with another season because of his good performance.

After the relegation of VVV Venlo at the end of the 2012-13 season, Leiwakabessy has left the club. In October 2013 after a few weeks of training at his former club NEC, he was offered a contract for the rest of the 2013-14 season. Also with NEC he relegated to the Eerste Divisie. But clubman Leiwakabessy was again offered another season contract and both agreed a function at the club when he is going to retire as a player.

After the promotion of NEC to the Eredivisie when winning the first division title, Leiwakabessy again extended his contract as player. He was as player under contract until June 2017 before his retirement.
