Ajax youth academy product Ryan Babel signed a 5-year contract for the Reds in July 2007. His transfer was worth 17M.

In January 2011 he moved to Germany to sign a 2.5 year contract at Hoffenheim worth around the 7M. He never managed to keep his place in the starting line-up of Liverpool.

Ryan Babel released himself from his contract in autumn 2012. He saw no chances at the German club and returned home. Ajax signed their former talent for the rest of the 2012-13 season. In June 2013 he moved to Turkish club Kasımpaşa on a 3-year deal. The club is coached by former Ajax striker Shota Arveladze.

After the dismissal of coach Arveladze, Babel was looking for new opportunities elsewhere. He moved to the Emirates in July 2015 to sign a 2-year contract at Al-Ain.

In September 2016 Ryan Babel terminated his contract at Al Ain because certain agreements were not followed upon at the club. In the same month Babel did find a new club and signed a contract at Deportivo La Coruna until the end of the year for 3,5 months.

After this short period in Spain, Babel returned to Turkey and signed a 3-year contact at Besiktas. The club from Istanbul was the current champion of Turkey. In winter 2018-19, Babel moved on a 2ME transfer for the second half of the season to Fulham FC in England.
