Eindhoven born Rob Maas started his football career in the Lighttown. After a move to Feyenoord he came in the picture of clubs abroad. He played his whole career abroad in Germany. First at Arminia Bielefeld and then to Hertha Berlin.

Rob Maas signed in April 2003 a contract at MSV Duisburg where he started in the summer. After two seasons at Duisburg, Maas returned home signing a contract at just promoted Heracles Almelo until 2006. He extended his contract finally until 2008.

In July 2008 he was on a free transfer looking for a new club. First he keeped up his fitness at the new club from his former coach Ruud Brood, RKC Waalwijk. Finally Maas was given a contract for the 2008-09 season in August 2008.

Rob Maas retired from professional football in June 2009. He is currently youth coach at RKC and Willem II.
