Vitesse Arnhem youth product Michael Dingsdag moved to Switzerland, signing a 2-year contract in July 2010. He became one of the key-players at the Swiss club who was keen to keep Dingsdag at the club when his contract ended. Although financial difficulties and problems with the Swiss FA, the club continued at the top level and Dingsdag extended his contract with another year until 2013.

After the expiration of his Swiss Sion contract, the experienced defender was released and became available on a free transfer. Reliable Dingsdag played most of the matches during his three year stay.

October 18 2013, Grasshopper Club Zürich announced the signing of Michael Dingsdag on a short-term contract until the end of the year. The contract has an option for the rest of the 2013-14 season that was used. They also extended his successful stay until June 2015.

In July 2015, the Dutch defender returned home and signed a 2-year contract at just relegated NAC Breda. He was announced as their new captain to help the club in their promotion back to the Eredivisie.

One year later, in July 2016, Dingsdag decided to leave NAC Breda although he had an one more year contract. The retirement of Dingsdag helped NAC Breda because they did not have to pay his salary anymore.
