André Paus played from 1994 to 1997 abroad, in Japan. He was a solid defender at FC Twente when the Japanese captured the player for 1,1 million guilders. After two seasons Jubilo Iwata together with their Dutch coach Hans Ooft, Paus moved for a season to Kawasaki Fujitsu, currently named Kawasaki Frontale. Paus returned home in January 1997.

When he retired from professional football he started his coaching career at the amateurs of UD Weerselo, his former youth club. He continued his career at VfB Altstatte (Ger), STEVO, de Tubanters, WKE and Spakenburg. In the season 2012-13 he was the head coach of FC Lienden (Topklasse) and in 2013-14 he was coaching the reserves of Vitesse. In January 2014 he also started his foreign experience as coach when moving to FC Valletta on Malta. Paus won the championship and swapped the island of Malta for Cyprus where he became the coach of Anorthosis Famagusta. In February 2016 he was fired as coach and returned home to search for new opportunities.
