Jeffrey Sarpong moved abroad in August 2010 to Spanish outfit Real Sociedad. The product of the Ajax youth academy has signed a 3-year contract.

In mid-season 2011-12 transferperiod, he returned home to sign for NAC Breda on a loan deal for the rest of the season. In the 2012-13 season, he was send on loan to Segunda Division outfit Hercules Alicante. In January 2013 the loan was terminated. He returned to Sociedad but club and player decided also to terminate his contract that expired in summer 2013. Jeffrey Sarpong became available on a free transfer. Soon he signed a new contract starting in the 2013-14 season at his former club NAC Breda until June 2016. NAC relegated at the end of the 2014-15 season and Sarpong became available on a free transfer.

In August 2015, Jeffrey Sarpong moved to the Australian football competition to join New-Zealand side Wellington Phoenix. He joined the team of fellow Dutchman Roly Bonevacia.

Wellington Phoenix announced on 31 January 2016 that Sarpong his contract had been terminated by mutual consent and that he would return to the Netherlands. In August 2016 Sarpong signed a one-year contract at Veria in Greece. He continued his career abroad at Turkish club Elazigspor on a 2-year contract until 2019. After one season, he returned to Greece to sign a contract at AO Xanthi for the 2018-19 season.

Sarpong is a former Dutch U21 international but has Ghanaian (father) and Nigerian (mother) roots.
