Bokila was born in Congo but moved at a young age to the Netherlands. He acquired the Dutch nationality and started playing at the amateurs of ZSV Zelos Zelhem before joining the youth academy of AGOVV. In summer 2010 he moved to Belgium to sign a 4-year contract at Zulte-Waregem.

Just before the closing of the 2011 summer transfer window, Bokila returned home for a loan season period at Sparta Rotterdam in August 2011. It was a successful season for Bokila where he became the top scorer of the club.

At the end of his loan period Bokila returned to Belgium, still being under contract until June 2014. In August 2012 there was another loan transfer for the striker. He went to Romanian Petrolul Ploiesti for the 2012-13 season.

Bokila moved to Russian side Terek Grozny in summer 2013. The forward signed a contract for four seasons until 2017.

In July 2015, Bokila signed a two-year contract for Chinese club Guangzhou R&F for the transfer amount of 1.5ME. In January 2016 Bokila went on loan to Turkish side Eskisehirspor until the end of the season. In July he continued a loan period but then in Qatar until the end of the year. In January 2017 he was released on a free transfer and moved to Turkish club Akhisarspor on a 2-year contract. Bokila is currently again on a loan period stalled elsewhere. For the 2017-18 season he is playing on loan in Romania for CFR Cluj followed by Dinamo Bucharest. In summer 2018 he returned to his Turkish club to play his final contract season 2018-19.

Bokila has dual citizenship but chose to represent the Democratic Republic of the Congo at senior level. Bokila made his national team debut against Burkina Faso on 14 November 2012.
