Goalkeeper André Krul went abroad in June 2012. He signed a short contract at Valletta. Valletta was looking for an experienced goalie to play in the UEFA Champions League preliminary round. After failing qualification, his contract ended and he found himself a new club abroad. Krul signed for Colombian club Boyacá Chicó as first Dutchman in the Colombian football league (Copa Mustang). His contract ended in January 2014.

FC Groningen contracted the goalkeeper for the rest of the 2013-14 season. In August 2014 he made a surprising move to Puerto Rico. Earlier in the season he got the chance to play in that country, but then he preferred to move home and sign for Groningen. However after a few weeks, the contract was cancelled because of juridical problems. Krul returned home looking for a new club.

Early 2015 Krul moved to Belgium club KV Turnhout at the third level in Belgium football. At the 14th of August he signed for SC Cambuur and moved back again to The Netherlands where he will be the third keeper next to Leonard Nienhuis and Harm Zeinstra.

In June 2016 Krul moved abroad again. After a succesfull trial he signed a contract until the end of the season at Iwaki FC with an option for another season.

In January 2017 he returned home when his contract was not extended in Japan. He signed for Spakenburg for the rest of the season and continued in 2017-18.
