Dutch forward Joey Godee moved abroad in January 2013. He arrived on a free transfer after the bankrupt of his former club AGOVV Apeldoorn. Godee signed a contract in Brugge for the rest of the 2012-13 season. Coach at Cercle was Dutchman Foeke Booy. Godee extended his contract until June 2016 after a successful début.

He featured just 7 matches at the Belgian club in his first season. In July 2013 he was therefore allowed a loan move to Go Ahead Eagles for the 2013-14 season.

At the end of the 2014-15 season, Godee relegated with his club and his contract was terminated. A year later, in the summer of 2016, Godee signed a one-year contract at Helmond Sport. He left the club in January 2017 to continue the rest of the season at Dordrecht.

After expiration of his contract he returned to his former club Helmond Sport on an amateur contract. At the end of November 2017, he returned his contract and went on trial to Indonesian club Persela Lamongan for a possible 2018 competition place in the selection. From February to June 2018 he was playing at DOVO Veenendaal and retired from professional football.
