In 2013, AZ youth player Kevin Luckassen signed a 3-year club at Scottish club Ross County. The former Netherlands U19 international moved abroad in summer 2013. In the second half of the season he moved to Slovan Liberec where he signed a contract until 2017. In July 2016, Luckassen moved to the Austrian league to sign for Sankt Polten in a 2-year deal. In summer 2017 his contract was terminated and he went looking for a new opportunity. From March up to June 2018 he was playing at Northampton Town in England. In summer 2018 Luckassen returned home and signed a one year deal at Almere City.

Though born in Eindhoven, Netherlands, Luckassen expressed desire to play for Ghana, as his parents are Ghanaian. Derrick Luckassen who also has foreign professional football experience is the younger brother of Kevin.
