Former Holland U21 forward Wildschut moved abroad in summer 2014. He signed a 2-year contract just before the closing of the transfer market at Middlesbrough.

At the 1st of October 2015 Wildschut went on a three-month loan deal to League One side Wigan Athletic. After these three months Wigan Athletic decided to sign Wildschut for a period of 3,5 seasons.

In January 2017, Norwich City bought Wildschut for a 8ME fee from Wigan. A year later, the forward was send on loan for the second half of the 2017-18 season to Cardiff City. Welsh club Cardiff City plays in the English Championship. Also no place for the Dutch winger in the 2018-19 season. In his final contract year, he was send on loan to Bolton Wanderers until June 2019. Wildschut was not able to show his attacking quality from his Wigan time in his further career.

After expiration of his contract at Norwich City, he signed a 2-year deal at Israelian club Maccabi Haifa until 2021.
