William Troost-Ekong played youth football in England for Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur, but began his professional career in The Netherlands at FC Groningen. After a spell on loan at FC Dordrecht, FC Groningen decided not to renew his contract in 2015.
Troost-Ekong joined AA Gent in July 2015 by signing a three-year contract at the Belgium champions of 2015. He immediately went on a season loan deal to Norwegian side FK Haugesund. For around 1ME, the defender moved to Turkey a season later in July 2017. Bursaspor has signed Troost on a 3-year deal until 2020. In Turkey, the defender played a solid season and got the attention of more foreign clubs. Italian side Udinese Calcio signed the player for a 3ME fee in August 2018. He signed a 4-year contract at the Serie A club.
William Troost-Ekong was called up for several Dutch youth international teams but has chosen on senior level to represent his father his country of Nigeria. He received his first call-up in June 2015. |
