Born in Zagreb to a Serbian father and a Croatian mother, Dokovic moved to The Netherlands at a young age. He spent his youth at different Dutch clubs before moving abroad to first Slovakia and later Croatia. He played at Spartak Trnava and at HNK Gorica.

In January 2011 Dokovic signed for Italian side Monza. Eight months later, in August 2013, he joined Cesena for a transfer fee of 220.000 Euros.

In June 2013 Đoković signed a 3-year contract at Bologna but immediately left for Romanian club CFR Cluj in a temporary deal. In June 2014 the co-ownership deals were renewed. On 27 August 2014 he was signed by A.S. Livorno Calcio in a temporary deal. On 25 June 2015 the co-ownership deals expired.

On 22 July 2015, after being released from Bologna, Djokovic signed for newly promoted Ligue 1 club Gazélec Ajaccio on a free transfer.

In september 2016 Đoković signed a contract until the end of the season at 2nd Bundesliga Club Greuter Fürth on a free transfer. The second half of the 2016-17 season he moved to Italian side Spezia. In July 2017 he joined HNK Rijeka in Croatia but just two months later he moved to Romanian club CFR Cluj on a 3-year deal.
