Dutch defender Sven Botman developed in the Ajax youth academy before making his first team appearance at SC Heerenveen in the 2019-20 season. Without play time in Ajax 1, he was on a loan deal in Friesland. At the end of his loan period, he was attrached by foreign clubs and was signed by French Ligue 1 club Lille on a 1.3ME deal. Abroad, he earned a lot of match time, playing most of the matches in L1 and received his Holland U21 caps. Botman became a solid player in the defence of Lille also in their 2021-22 campaign and won the L1 and French super cup with the team. In June 2022 he moved to England as top signing a 5-year contract for around the 30ME. Newcastle United was his second station abroad to show his qualities. |
